We all agree that standard of living in California is high, and the State and County tight regulations on almost everything and anything is luckily the primary reason for it. How about the standard of living for the senior or disable members of the family? Having someone, whom you are not sure about his or her background and skill set, at your home with your loved one alone is probably the riskiest act that you could take in your life. It is thus well-expected that Homecare services would be under tightest such scrutiny. State of California has surprisingly been acting short of his duties in upholding Homecare service providers against highest liabilities, if any, up until a few years ago. But thankfully, things have changed a few years ago, and as of January 1, 2016, Home Care Services Consumer Protection Act has been in full implementation in California to protect the rights and safety of both the care recipients and the caregivers, alike. So essentially, every family member who has a senior at home and might need to receive homecare service, should be aware of the core of the Home Care Services Consumer Protection Act in order to be able to stay fully complaint with it. Noncompliant with this act could have drastic ramifications for caregivers and care recipients by costing financial damages or even lives.
In summary, every person who would like to provide care for a loved one in California, whether to work as an individual or as an employee of a care provider agency, has to meet certain requirements including:
- Be registered with the Homecare Bureau of California Department of Social services and maintain a valid, up-to-date record on the registry.
- Pass a clearance on a criminal background check with both FBI and Department of Justice.
- Pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test and maintain an up-to-date negative result on file.
- Be bonded.
- Being covered under Liability Insurance.
- Receive extensive training on all aspects of Homecare assistance and update the training on an annual basis.
At Redan Medical, we understand the importance of keeping those regulations in place and comply with the uptight. We understand it not just from the luxurious, fantasy aspects, but because we have had first-hand experience with some of our care recipients who suffered tremendously because of risking their lives and quality of the service by recruiting caregivers who were not vetted and filtered through proper channels. At Redan Medical, we not only take the State regulations on Homecare very seriously, but we take a few steps further and make additional regulations to be mandated on our caregiver staff, by having them all to also:
- Pass a Drug test and maintain an up-to-date negative result on file.
- Fully associate themselves with us as a Redan Medical employee with Workers Compensation and Unemployment insurance and W2-payroll.
It is well-understood by all of our Staff the importance of being in full compliance with each and every rules and regulations by State and by Redan Medical; not just from the ethical and professional aspects of being an excellent Homecare provider, but also from the liability and financial consequences that noncompliance could bring about for themselves, Redan Medical as well as the care recipients.
