Over the years of talking to the families of seniors and the seniors themselves, what we experienced as the number one challenge in providing care and assistance to the seniors is their delicate sense of dignity. No matter if a person may or may not be physically declining, or may or may not be suffering from any incapability, their dignity will always remain the most important aspect of their life. In extreme cases, seniors might resist or deny receiving service, but even at times when they hesitantly accept someone giving them a hand to manage their daily life, they are very protective of their sense of pride and dignity to not be damaged. They always prefer to see themselves as capable beings who used to be in control of their life and still are. They always like to see their independence as untouched. They always like to see themselves as individuals that do not need pity from anyone. Being aware of these observations of not compromising on the great sense of dignity among elderlies would make the collective experience of homecare services equally pleasant for everyone involved. This includes the seniors themselves, their families, and for us, the proud care providers here at Redan Medical. Therefore, it is extremely important for the families of seniors to be extremely watchful of the dignity aspect when arranging for homecare services for their loved ones. Never make it seem to them as if they are incapable, pitiful, desperate, or dependent on someone else, otherwise, they will resist the idea of having a caregiver over at their house, or if they do, they would never enjoy the companionship of the caregiver. Here at Redan Medical, we strive to do our part the best by having our caregivers going through thorough training programs, as part of which, it becomes crystal clear to them how respectful they need to behave with their care recipients, including extreme consideration of their sense of pride and dignity.
“Here at Redan Medical, we are not gracing our seniors with our services, they are gracing us by letting us to serve them.”
